My name is Jason Childs and I am the instructor of Architecture and Drafting at the Picayune Career and Technology Center. I graduated from Picayune Memorial High School in 1998 and earned my degree in Drafting and Design Technology from Pearl River Community College in 2000.
In 2001, I began my career as a drafter at Tabor Metals in Gulfport, MS. I took a leap of faith in July of 2003 by reluctantly accepting God’s call to take a job as a teacher. This profession has proven to be a blessing in my life and I am privileged to have the opportunity to impact students’ lives.
What I enjoy most about teaching is providing students with knowledge, skills, and experience beneficial to success in postsecondary education, as well as the workforce.
My belief in Career and Technical Education can be summed up by the following quote from Benjamin Franklin: "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." Simply put, Career and Technical Education is deeply rooted in learning through involvement.
